Meet Tom

Tom — Hybrid Theory coach

You can find me coaching

I coach a mix of classes including morning, midday and nights.

Tell us about yourself

Lifelong fitness enthusiast, gym owner, husband and father of 4 little legends. When I'm not coaching or building Hybrid Theory, you'll usually find me mountain biking (downhill preferred), tackling landscaping projects, looking after house plants, or chasing kids around. Fun fact: I was also in the crowd when Rafiki held Simba over the edge of a cliff.

Qualifications & Achievements

Bachelor's Degree in Sport & Exercise Science, along with a few sporting achievements over the years. My specialty is biomechanics—helping people move better, stay injury-free, build strength, and unlock more power and performance both inside and outside the gym.

Favourite song to blast in a workout

Official answer: Whatever keeps the members happy. Unofficial answer: If nobody else is around, there's a good chance Static-X is rattling the speakers and everyone is questioning who's been given control of the playlist. The heavier the music, the better. 🤘

Tell us about yourself

I'm here for a laugh for the most part, but I'm also very passionate about helping people genuinely in all aspects of life, fitness has played a major role in my life on many levels. I have been involved in the fitness/sport scene for over 16 years as both a competitive athlete and a coach, my sport has varied from representative touch, rugby union/league across many levels to most recently CrossFit, where I have competed at the semi final level of competition (one level below CrossFit games).

My favourite songs to work out to would vary, if I'm lifting I like heavy hip hop/rap or if I'm working out love a good DnB track!!

Tell us about yourself

Hi, I'm Jacob. I coach because I genuinely love helping people. Before my coaching journey, I played football right through my youth, reaching the top club level nationally before earning a scholarship to play and study overseas. These days, my main passion is functional fitness, though I do dabble in other training modalities, recently having survived Ironman NZ. I love how functional style training can improve my quality of life, whilst allowing me to do other cool fitness-related endeavours. Outside the gym, you'd either find me on the golf course, watching European Champions Tottenham Hotspur (loyalty is a virtue), or watering my house plants, soundtracking life with Olivia Dean. I also like to maintain that I'd have been a pro footballer too - if it weren't for three knee surgeries
