Meet Our Coaches

Meet the passionate humans driving Hybrid Theory's transformative journey. Beyond their vast experience, they bring infectious enthusiasm and genuine care to everything they do. They aren't just instructors - they are mentors, cheerleaders and your fiercest advocates.

Meet Tom

Tell us about yourself:

Lifetime lover of all things fitness and father or 3 wee monkeys. Enjoy dabbling in mountain biking (not uphill), landscaping and house plants. I was also in the crowd when Rafiki held Simba over the edge of a cliff.


Qualifications & Achievements:

 Sport and exercise science Degree, few sports awards over the years. My specialty would be biomechanics of how people move to fix/prevent injury and get them producing more power. 

Favourite song to blast in a workout:

Liquor & Cigarettes by Chase & Status would be my current favourite but I'm also not afraid of playing Westside Connection.

I coach a mix of classes including morning, midday and nights 

Meet Luke

Tell us about yourself:

Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. Moved to South Jersey in the states for a year to work as a Coach, then moved to Christchurch for University in 2016, have been here in the 03 ever since. I’ve been doing CrossFit since I was 12. I played Volleyball all throughout High School up into my senior year, 2 years as a Middle, 2 years as an Outside/Weak-side Utility. I have a 2.5 year old Sable Shepherd named Russell. Beverage of choice, depending on the time of day could be a gin and lime, or chocolate milk. Ask me anything about any movie you’ve seen and I might be able to quote it back to you. 

Qualifications & Achievements:

    

  • BSpC (Bachelor of Sports Coaching) W/ Triple Major in Strength and Conditioning,
    Performance Analysis, and Nutrition
     
  • SESNZ (Strength & Exercise Science NZ ) Level 1 Accreditation
     
  • CrossFit Level 1 & CrossFit Gymnastics, Scaling, Coaches Development Certifications
     
  • 8 Years of Coaching Experience & Specialist Coaching for Gymnastics, Olympic Weightlifting & CrossFit Specific Movements
     
  • Currently finishing a Masters in Human Nutrition with a Directed Thesis on Elderly Health and Wellbeing

You can find me coaching:

Monday: 12:15 & 4:30pm Compete/Ignite Total
Tuesday: 5,6,7am Engine Peak
Thursdays: 5:30 Engine Base & 6:30 Flow
Friday 6,7am & 5:30pm: Compete Upper/Ignite Glutes & Arms, as well as 6:30pm Barbell 

Saturday 8am: Engine Teams and 9am Barbell 

Meet Corey

Tell us about yourself:

I’m here for a laugh for the most part, but I’m also very passionate about helping people genuinely in all aspects of life, fitness has played a major role in my life on many levels. I have been involved in the fitness/sport scene for over 16 years as both an competitive athlete and a coach, my sport has varied from representative touch, rugby union/league across many levels to most recently CrossFit, where I have competed at the semi final level of competition (one level below CrossFit games).

My favourite songs to work out to would vary, if I’m lifting I like heavy hip hop/rap or if I’m working out love a good DnB track!! 

You can find me coaching:

Monday afternoons, Tuesday mornings and afternoons, Wednesday all day and Friday afternoon for the Flow class! 

Meet Eve

Tell us about yourself:

I’m Eve, the new coach on the block. I have a passion for lifting heavy things and working with people. I believe in creating a safe space where anyone from all walks of life can come in and improve themselves through movement. I have been involved in Para-Sport and coaching people with disabilities and aim to bring inclusion to any space I walk into. Cheers to happy days and smiles all around. 

Qualifications & Achievements:

Levels 5 & 6 Diploma in Sport Recreation and Exercise
Currently completing my Bachelors Degree in Sport Coaching majoring in Strength and Condi'oning
