Three Families,
Eight Ways To Train

Training timetable →
01

Strength

Get strong

One class, two lanes — you pick yours at the door, and everyone meets on the same finisher. The week runs Total (Monday), Lower (Wednesday) and Upper (Friday).

Compete

60 min · competitor

The competitor's lane — heavier and more technical. Every block is built around an Olympic lift (the snatch or clean & jerk) plus percentage-based strength, programmed in 8-week cycles that evolve each round. Backed by science and years of coaching, for when you're chasing numbers.

Train

60 min · shape & tone

The strength, shape and tone lane. Posterior-chain work — hip thrusts, RDLs, Bulgarians and targeted accessory — always capped with core, to get you stronger and leaner. No Olympic lifting.

Compete & Train run side by side in the same slot. Pick a lane; finish together.

02

Engine

Build your engine

Our conditioning family — three doors, sorted by how long and how hard you want to go.

Sweat

45 min · express

The accessible hit — cardio machines, kettlebells, dumbbells and wall balls in constantly-varied intervals. Get in, sweat, get out. Also runs as its own Hybrid Sweat class.

Endurance

60 min · aerobic

Long, sustained erg-based work — Row, Bike and Ski rotations at steady, repeatable efforts — to build the deep aerobic engine everything else runs on.

Peak

60 min · skill + intensity

The hardest door. Olympic lifts and barbell cycling alongside a gymnastics-skill block — muscle-ups, rope climbs and handstand work — then a high-intensity conditioning piece. Scalable from Everyday Athlete to Athlete Corner.

Teams

Saturday · partner or team

Game day. Pair up or form teams of three or four for relay-style conditioning to kick off the weekend — bring your mates and share the work.

03

Skill

Master skills

Specialty technique sessions. Come to sharpen one thing — pure skill, no conditioning finisher.

Barbell

45 min · Olympic lifting

Olympic weightlifting in a group setting — the snatch and the clean & jerk, on percentage waves. Whether you've never touched a barbell or you're chasing a PR, this is where you learn it.

Flow

45 min · gymnastics

Gymnastics and bodyweight skill — handstands, muscle-ups and toes-to-bar — built through strict strength and progressive skill work. Move in ways you didn't think you could.

Training questions

What people
ask first

Do you run group fitness classes in Christchurch?
Yes — everything we do is coached group training, at our gym on Durham Street South in central Christchurch. Classes run across strength, conditioning and skill, and every session is led by a coach rather than self-directed.
Is this functional training?
Yes. Our classes are built on functional, compound movement — squats, hinges, carries, presses, pulls, running and machine work — programmed together rather than as isolated body-part sessions. We call the approach Hybrid Training because it combines strength and engine work in the same week.
What's the difference between your strength and conditioning classes?
Strength classes (Compete and Train) run percentage-based lifting in 8-week cycles — Compete is the heavier, more technical lane, Train focuses on strength, shape and tone without Olympic lifting. Engine classes (Sweat, Endurance and Peak) are conditioning, sorted by how long and how hard you want to go.
Do I need to be fit already to join a class?
No. Every class is scalable and coached, so weights, distances and intensity are adjusted to you on the day. People at very different levels train side by side in the same session.
How often should I train each week?
Three to five sessions a week suits most people, and the timetable is built so you can mix strength and conditioning across that. If you're new, start with three and add from there once the routine sticks.
Can I try a class before committing to a membership?
Yes. The 21-day trial gives you unlimited access to Training, Sweat and Recovery for $99 with no long-term commitment, which is the easiest way to find out whether the classes suit you.
